Join us as we hear from Clare Sargent about Rediscovering Capability Brown at Radley Hall.
This talk looks at the documentary and landscape evidence for the work commissioned by Sir William Stonhouse at Radley Hall in the 1770s. It includes maps, account books, aerial archaeology and dog walks. The research was undertaken as part of Capability Brown’s Tercentenary in 2016.
Clare Sargent has been archivist at Radley College for many years. She has published extensively about the school and the history of education and on historical bibliography. She has a degree in Assyriology and has taught Classics and research skills. She is currently working on a joint project on ‘Schools for Empire’ in the 19th century.
